July 1, 2023 - We are pleased to announce we have two new instruments in our facility.  We have a new High-Resolution Mass Spectrometer for use in trace metal analysis that was purchased through a NSF EPSCoR grant (PI-Brad Cramer, EES).  In addition, we have acquired a MicroCT instrument through a partnership with the UI College of Dentistry.  If you are interested in using either instruments, feel free to reach out for training.

April 13, 2023 - We will be holding our Spring 2023 MATFab user meeting on May 10, 2023 from 4-5 p.m. in IATL 104.  A zoom link can also be provided for those who cannot make it in person.

January 9, 2023 - We are excited to welcome Schaffer Finney as a full-time MATFab staff member! He will be managing the fabrication laboratories and supporting new efforts in machining.

December 16, 2022 - Congrats to our undergraduate interns, Maria and Schaffer, for their upcoming graduation!

December 12, 2022 - We are excited to welcome Dr. Linhan (Leo) Li to the MATFab team!  He is bringing a significant amount of ICP-MS experience to our team.

July 18, 2022 - Dr. Michael Sinnwell is joining our team as a part-time Research Specialist.  He will be managing the BET and Elemental Analysis instruments.

June 29, 2022 - We are excited to have Dr. Daniel Unruh here on campus!  He will be managing the single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction systems that are currently housed in the Department of Chemistry.  If you need to use either of these instruments or just want to talk to Daniel about X-ray diffraction applications, then feel free to contact him (daniel-unruh@uiowa.edu).

May 11, 2022 - We held the Spring 2022 Users meeting from 4-5 p.m. on May 11 in 104 IATL and via zoom.  The meeting was recorded and you can view the video here.

April 15, 2022 - So excited to announce that Dr. Daniel Unruh will be joining us as a staff member in the MATFab facility.  He will be helping us transition the new diffraction equipment from the Department of Chemistry to the facility starting July 1.  

March 14, 2022 - Professor Tori Forbes has joined the MATFab team as the new facility director.  She is excited to work with all the users of the facility to enhance research efforts at the University of Iowa.
